FAQs

ASSISTED AND INDEPENDENT LIVING

What is assisted living?

Assisted living is a combination of housing, personalized support and wellness services designed to meet the needs of people requiring assistance with the activities of daily living.

How do I know when to explore assisted living options?

When you or a loved one begins experiencing difficulty performing daily tasks, it might be time to consider assisted living options. These tasks could include preparing and eating balanced meals, dressing/grooming, maintaining proper hygiene, housekeeping and monitoring and administering medications.

People who have difficulties with these tasks, also tend to have increased mobility issues that make it difficult to leave their home. As they participate in fewer outside activities and become more isolated, they often deal with loneliness and depression.

An assisted living environment offers both needed physical support—in a way that still lets residents maintain as much independence as possible—plus life-enriching companionship and activities.

What types of living quarters do you offer?

We offer apartments in a variety of sizes and with different amenities. Please call for current availability. If your preferred size isn’t currently available, we are happy to put your name on our waiting list.

What does the apartment rental fee include?

Rental includes your apartment and utilities (except for telephone), access to all common areas, two meals a day (the main lunch meal and your choice of breakfast or supper), cable television, weekly housekeeping and bed linen change. The third daily meal can be purchased for $160 per month.

Each apartment is equipped with emergency call cords and a private bath with shower and has individual temperature control.

Residents are invited to attend and participate in many social, spiritual, educational and health and wellness programs. Many of these are included in your apartment fee.

Do you have any apartments for independent living?

All of our apartments can be either independent or assisted living apartments.

Where can I fill out an application?

We have a few options: We can fax or email you an application for residency, or you can download it here. Once complete, please send it to lrichardson@villastfrancis.org. From there, we will follow up promptly.

How many levels of care do you provide in your assisted living plans?

We offer a variety of care services and will create a package designed to meet your specific needs and preferences.

What is the process for moving in?

After touring our residence, you’ll be asked to complete an application form and a medical release. We then schedule an appointment for your assessment either here or at your current residence. In many cases, we can complete the application process in seven days.

Do you take Family Care?

Yes. We do provide services for the Family Care program, but openings vary so please call for availability.

Is there a security deposit?

No. There is no security deposit or endowment fee. We rent apartments on a month-to-month basis. A 30-day written notification is required if you plan to vacate.

Are you connected to a nursing home?

RESPITE CARE

What is Respite Care?

These are short-term assisted living services. They’re useful when family or caregivers are on vacation or in need of a rest, or to provide assistance after an illness (please note that we do not offer nursing home level care). Our Respite Care program can also be a good way to “try out” assisted living services.

How can I sign up for Respite Care?

The first step is an evaluation to determine that we can meet the individual’s care needs. Once this has been established, you can reserve a respite care space for up to 28 consecutive days.

What is the cost of your Respite Services?

Our respite services range from $160 per day for up to 28 days for those who meet our care criteria. Cost is determined based on services required.

We are actually a Felician sponsored ministry.  Wheaton ads all say, something very close to, “in partnership with the Felician Sisters.”
